Show Low Bluff Development Update
Here's a Show Low Bluff development update posted on Friday, November 30, 2007 on the Show Low Bluff website.
Show Low Bluff Development Update
The southern half of Sitgreaves Park has been paved and curbed. Building permits are now available in that part of the neighborhood. One sidewalk has been constructed, part of the trail system that will extend throughout Show Low Bluff.
Speaking of the trail system, work on it will begin shortly. The first part of it, from the footbridge spanning Show Low Creek, up the bluff and across to Penrod Road, should be done by spring of next year. That section of trail will go through the area where the City will build four ballfields.
Electrical utility construction is finishing up, and water and wastewater utilities development are under way in Penrod Commerce Park. Paving is scheduled to begin in our first commercial area after the first of the year.
Earth moving is also continuing on the extension of Woolford Road to Penrod. Trees have been cleared up the bluff, so the future scenic route into our development is clearly visible from White Mountain Road. Improvement plans are under way in areas around Woolford Road’s extension that are not in The Hub.
Meantime, earth moving continues in The Hub with two objectives: first, is to separate rock from dirt—and further separate boulders from smaller rock—and, second, is to begin filling parts of The Hub to reduce the required engineered fill for future construction.
A contract will be awarded at the beginning of next year to design and build the bridge crossing Show Low Creek that will extend Woolford Road up the bluff.
Finally, early next year we will announce the creation of an archaeology park. We are committed to preserving the bluff overlooking Show Low Creek and the meadow, and the rock art that can be found on malapai outcroppings and boulders. The park will eventually include a trail and historical markers explaining the significance of the petroglyphs, some of which our experts have dated back to the earliest days of the millennium.
